Solid Boulder Opal from Outback Queensland. A Fabulous Colorshow AND A
Fantastic Pattern!!!! No less than a "FLAG HARLEQUIN" Pattern on the
entire face of this L-A-R-G-E Opal!!! The Flag Harlequin Pattern is RARE
and highly sought after by the world's most enthusiastic opal collectors!!
Barrie O'Leary raves about this pattern as follows in his book "A Field
Guide to Australian Opals". 'Regular polyhedra of multicolored opal,
neatly arranged?' When the colors present themselves in this manner,
Barrie O'Leary writes this is 'The ultimate in perfection of a harlequin
pattern.' Barrie O'Leary continues on; 'Harlequin opal is precious opal in
which the colors shine as patches or spangles. The patches are regular
with definite boundaries, and are distributed in a way that forms a mosaic
composition, the appearance of which is truly magnificent.' and 'Such a
pattern can occur, and when it does it is a very rare and exceedingly
valuable design for the gemstone.' No wonder this pattern is so popular!!
The colors in this opal are a plenty!! Crimson Red, Valencia Orange,
Sunset Yellow, Lemon Yellow, Lime Green, Turquoise Blue, Luscious Lilac
and Sky Blue!!! The Red, Orange and Yellow colors are predominant.
Brightness is no less than 4.9 on a scale of 5!! The colors show
themselves like stars in the sky or a bunch of excited party lights! There
is no stopping the show of these beautiful colors in sooo many
colorspangles, all fighting for attention.... The colors lay throughout a
very thick layer of Precious opal upon the ironstone body of boulder opal.
The colorshow is mesmerising as the entire layer of opal is jam-packed
with colorspangles. The colorshow presents itself in a Highly
3-Dimensional manner!! Colors show PERFECTLY from all directions and in

and their brightness. Perfect cut with a slightly undulating dome and high
